Guess where I was!

Hello Folks,

To quote that wonderful song from Gershwin's Porgy & Bess about this time of year, it's "Summertime, and the livin' is easy..."

I'm back from a trip through Ontario, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, and would like to share some of the pictures I took along the way - so keep a look out for them on our website over the next little while. Maybe they will inspire you to put on your travelin' shoes and do a similar trip around Canada...or wherever else in the world, you'd like to visit. And if the price is too high, or the energy too low, well there's always that magic carpet of the imagination on which to float away beyond the horizon!

Did you all enjoy the Canada Day weekend? Any pictures to share with our readers? Send them to me, and I'll add them to our site. Thea and Ian Baxter in keeping with a long standing tradition, hosted their annual Canada Day party in style as you'll see from the page posted on our Club page. I hope you can also access the little movie clip of us singing Oh Canada (about three quarters down the page) but be patient as it may take a minute or so to download. Special thanks to Rhyllis McCarthy whose photographic skills captured the fun and cameraderie we shared. Click here to take a look.

Well...our next function is now looming large on the horizon - the International Anglo-Indian Day picnic! It's being held at the same venue as last year - i.e. in Ryall Park off Salter Street in Queensborough, New Westminster on Sunday August 5th from 11 am onwards. Thanks to Freda (D'Souza) we are booked into a large shed where there are plenty of tables and benches to spread ourselves out - and a welcome shelter if (heaven forbid!) it's a rainy day, or a swelteringly hot one.

This is a family occasion and we'd be delighted if you brought friends along as well as your your kids, grandkids and their friends too. I would, however, like to hear from you as to the childrens' names and ages so that we can organize age-appropriate games and prizes. E-mail me at britishcolumbiaairc@gmail.com or phone me at 604-593-0065 by July 27th.

If you play a guitar or harmonica (or any instrument) bring it so we can sing along (I'll bring song sheets). Do you have badminton sets? Bocci ball sets? Card games? Bingo sets? And...of course, of course - we'll have at least one carrom board for you to try out your skills! Last but very far from least, bring goodies to share at the picnic table! We don't have any facilities for heating food so do keep that in mind when you bring your contributions!

And...best of all, bring your laughter, your songs, your news and views...and plenty of sense and nonsense too!

Cheers!

Margaret
