Fall-Winter 2021

Hi Folks,

Well, time has once again zipped by, and here we are now in early November. The trees beyond my study window are bare, but that hasn't deterred a resident squirrel who is busy gathering up morsels for his winter larder.

As I write this, the sky is gloomy with heavy grey clouds, but better weather—sunny, but cold days—are on the way according to our weather pundits.

It's been an austere year, with Covid 19 restrictions hampering social events, concerts and community celebrations. However, like the weather, change is on the horizon and yesterday, the night sky was lit up with fireworks, and the sound of crackers as the Indo Canadian community joyously celebrated Diwali.

And, next up on my calendar is Remembrance Day on November 11th - a solemn but very poignant occasion when we remember those who sacrificed everything to bring us the blessings we all enjoy today in a stable, secure and safe Canada.

And then, almost before we know it we'll be approaching the Yuletide Season and, with the easing of restrictions, we'll be able to enjoy the company of loved ones and dear friends once more.

Our Club will welcome in the warmth and cameraderie of Christmas at our annual potluck tea and Christmas carol sing along—and we do hope you will join us. A word of warning, however: we are very limited for space, so please do sign up early. Also, in order to abide by regulations, we ask that only those who have been fully vaccinated join us. Take a look at our invitation and 1 hope to hear from you (and see you in person) soon!

Cheers,
Margaret
