REMEMBERING ROWLAND ("Mac") McCARTHY

It was with much sadness that we said a final farewell to "Mac" (as he was fondly known to friends and family) when he passed away on January 7th of this year. The McCarthy family are staunch supporters of the Anglo Indian community, and we all have wonderful memories of the many parties, picnics and New Year's Eve dances that they were part of ever since our A.I. Club was launched all those many years ago.

Many of us will remember Mac's mischievous grin and the glint in his eye at Halloween when he would show up in some outrageous outfit that brought gasps and giggles from us all. On the more serious side, he was a mine of information on some little known facts of India's history, and his listeners were treated to many an interesting anecdote stemming from his career in the Calcutta police.

Although we will all miss him, there is comfort in the thought that he is now beyond all earthly troubles and is peacefully at rest. Below is a portion of a card designed by Rhyllis to honour her Dad's memory.
