Spring 2019

It's March 18th today, so I guess I'm jumping the gun a bit to head this up as "Spring" - but the Ides of March is only 3 days away (March 21st), and as that is the official start of Spring, I'm not too far off the mark.

As some of you may know, I've been out of the country for most of the first two months of the year, traveling in India, and Australia. Although I don't need much of an excuse to return time and again to India, this visit was occasioned by the International Anglo-Indian Reunion that was being held in Chennai from January 6th to 13th. The event, held once every three years, draws Anglo-Indians from across the globe, and it was a pleasure to meet, greet and exchange views and news with folks from Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada. I will be posting photographs and a short video clip on our website shortly so stay tuned...

While in India I also had a very interesting week in Calcutta (haven't quite got used to "Kolkata") and I will share commentary and a few pictures on a couple of off the beaten track places that I visited while there. Then it was on to a little town (used to be just a village when I was growing up) called Chunar (about a 90 minute drive from Varanasi) to visit my grandmother's grave.

I wound up my month in India on a nostalgic wander through Bombay which holds many memories for me.

Then, it was off to Australia to spend a delightful three weeks visiting my cousins and their families in New South Wales. I was throroughly spoiled - and it was just lovely to lap it all up!

Back home now, I'm trying to catch up with several projects - not the least of which is (shudder!) coming to grips with Revenue Canada's income tax demands. With any luck though (fingers crossed!) this time around, perhaps they'll owe me instead!

In closing I just want to once again thank all of you who have renewed your membership for 2019 - your support is greatly appreciated. Please do send me your suggestions, and your contributions of pictures, stories - any and everything you'd like to share with readers.

Enjoy spring, balmy weather and long sunlit evenings....

Best,

Margaret
