A NOTE FROM MARGARET
(No guesses as to where I've been a-wandering recently)

Hello Members,

Although we are over a month into 2018, I hope it's not too late to wish all our members the very best of everything in this (almost) brand new year. I hope the Christmas holidays brought you all much joy amidst family and friends, and that you all have good health, good times and many blessings in the months ahead.

If you have pictures of your family celebrations and recent travels that you'd like to share, please do send them to me so that I can post them on our website. I welcome articles that you think would interest readers so pass these on to me as well. The website is an on-going "billboard" for your use, your news and your stories, so do take a moment or two to send me fresh and interesting material.

This time around, in a sombre vein, we recently bade farewell to Brian Vint who, along with his wife Jeanette, has been a loyal and long standing member of the A.I. Club. At a memorial service, his neice, Amber, paid tribute to a well-loved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many, in a warm and affectionate eulogy which is posted on our site.

On a different tack, it is "cap-in-hand" time once again folks! To keep us afloat as a Club, we once again ask for your support by way of your annual $15.00 membership fee (covers the household, not individuals) which is very affordable. As we start 2018, we have a modest bank balance to cover costs for website domain maintenance, and up-front, out of pocket expenses for social events.    Cheques should be made out in the name of "The A.I. Recreational Club" and sent to Vivek Savkur at 13158-60th Avenue, Surrey B.C. V3X 0C3.  Our appreciative thanks in advance.

While we will continue to organize lunch or dinner (no host) get togethers at restaurants throughout 2018, we'd like to add more Club sponsored social events to the mix but this is difficult to do without more volunteer support.  Jacquie and I need your help with a variety of tasks such as phoning around to find reasonably priced venues, getting catering quotes, themes and ideas for our parties, phoning to invite/remind people about an event—particularly those who aren't on e-mail—and a myriad other little organizational details that need attention. If you can help, please call me at 604-593-0065 . We really need you!!!

Thank you for being part of our social events through the years, and with your help, I hope we will continue to meet, mingle, and have fun in one another's company throughout the months ahead.

Cheers,
Margaret
