OUR CHRISTMAS CAROL SING-ALONGWe had a small but cheerful, group join us for our annual Christmas carol sing-along. Unfortunately several members couldn't be with us this year as our event clashed with the celebration of the Feast of St. Francis Xavier and the popular childrens' Christmas party and social that follows the Mass. Thanks to Ian (Currie) on the keyboard, Leslie Michael Jr. on his guitar, and Deborah who led the singing, we belted out several popular carols, in between nibbling on sweet and savory delights spread out in sumptuous array on our festively decorated tea-table, sipping (laced!) eggnog and other less potent beverages. Special thanks to Ashley and Marie Orton who came by early to help us set up the Fireside Lounge with pretty lights over the fireplace, a lovely centrepiece on the buffet table and a miniature frosty white Christmas tree to embellish the beverages table. We played Christmas bingo (winners Betty T. and Caroline W.) and a Christmas themed quiz (won by Raywyn E.) and listened to Leslie playing us a guitar solo, followed by several nostalgic and well-loved songs rendered by Ian on the keyboard. As they had just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, we cheered Deanne & Bob Fernandes as they took the floor to dance to the romantic strains of the Anniversary Waltz. As the afternoon wound down, and our early winter dusk closed in, we had many hands assist with tidying up the kitchen and Hall, for which we owe you all many thanks. Last, and very far from least, a big thank you to Jacqueline Michael whose unfailing support, helpful suggestions, and behind-the-scenes work contributed in large measure to the success of our event.
